Asset registries fail in ordinary ways: a vendor sunsets a product, a contract lapses, a department reorganises. The identifier survives; the record that gave it meaning does not. BEACON writes the record itself to a public blockchain, in plain text, once.
The problem
Asset registries fail in ordinary ways. A vendor is acquired and sunsets the product. A contract lapses and the data is held hostage. A department reorganises and nobody renews the licence. A spreadsheet's owner leaves. In each case the identifier survives — the serial number is still stamped on the housing — and the record that gave it meaning does not.
BEACON removes the dependency. An asset's identifier, its custodian, and the means of returning it are written directly to a public blockchain as plain text. There is no vendor to renew with, no database to migrate, and no export format to negotiate, because the record is already in the most portable form there is.
The result is a registration that outlives the registrar: readable by any party, verifiable by anyone, and impossible to revoke by a party that no longer exists. Custody is proven by control of the inscription itself, so transferring the asset's registration is a chain transaction rather than a support ticket.

1 · Write it once
Record the identifier, the accountable custodian and the recovery contact. Inscribed once from your own wallet; no recurring fee and no vendor relationship.
2 · Update it when things change
Status, custodian and location are amended by inscribing an update. Nothing is overwritten — the full history stays auditable on chain.
3 · Anyone can read it
Any counterparty, insurer, auditor or finder can resolve the identifier independently, with no account and no access granted by us.
